New Jersey to start work on $9B commuter train tunnel this spring

A $9 billion tunnel under the Hudson River from New Jersey will double the number of commuter trains that travel into New York City. Work is scheduled to begin this spring on the 3.5-mile tunnel project, which is likely to receive funds from the federal economic-stimulus package. New Jersey Transit officials announced bidding will open today for the tunnel project.
