New York workers build third underground water tunnel

A third underground tunnel that will supply water to New York City is expected to be operational by 2020 and will connect to the city's first water filtration plant, officials say. Urban miners working more than 130 feet under the ground's surface are about halfway through blasting and drilling the new underground system. Neither of the two underground tunnels that currently supply water to the city have been repaired since they were built in the early 20th century.
