Twitter your way to a new gig

After software developer Kevin Smith realized he hated his job, he turned to Twitter and started connecting with others while acquiring new skills. Over time, he developed relationships with the people he tweeted with and when a new, local Twitter friend had a job at his small software development firm, Smith was at the top of the list. As Peter Waldschmidt, the chief executive officer of Smith's new employer, recounts, while Twitter "doesn't remove the need for interviews, it makes the interview process more like hiring a friend than hiring a stranger."
