Regulators reportedly agree to capital rules for major banks

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision decided that banks worldwide will face a sliding scale of capital requirements based on a variety of factors, sources said. The move is aimed at ensuring that lenders seen as "too big to fail" have larger capital cushions. Regulators will regularly evaluate banks to determine their capital requirements rather than develop a fixed list of systemically important financial institutions, a source said.
