Wash. schools begin testing new teacher evaluations

Several Washington-state school districts currently are piloting systems for evaluating teachers. The evaluation rules are expected to be finalized this month, with teachers being graded on a four-point scale based on eight criteria, including high expectations, effective practices, collaboration and recognizing students' individual needs. All schools in the state will be required to bring the new evaluation system into their fold by the 2013-14 school year.
