Out-of-business Iowa firm must clean up hazardous waste, EPA says

Cedar Valley Electroplating, an Iowa company that stopped operations last year, must clean up its former site after the Environmental Protection Agency reported improperly stored hazardous waste on the property. Chemicals on the site included chromium, sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, and some containers were open or leaking. The company's closure "does not absolve them" of responsibility for the cleanup, EPA spokesman Chris Whitley said.
