Report: U.S. retail sales show biggest gain in 5 months

U.S. retail sales rose 1.1% in February, the biggest boost in five months as consumers spent on cars, clothing and other goods despite higher gas prices, according to a Commerce Department report. Sales at clothing stores increased 1.8%, the biggest jump since November 2010, and sales at garden and home-improvement stores rose 1.4%.
