Study: Green-building experts must look at 6 mitigation categories

Climate change should prompt building professionals to focus on six areas, including heating, cooling and lighting as well as water and waste, to determine environmental changes and mitigate the effects on existing buildings and future construction, according to a study by the U.S. Green Building Council and experts at the University of Michigan. "The next step is to understand the impact of climate change on the built environment and to incorporate appropriate adaptation strategies into green building practice so that the environments we design, build, and manage today will be suitable for a range of uncertain futures," the report says.
