Judiciary Committee considers Internet sales tax strategies

Six witnesses appeared before the U.S. House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday to discuss sales tax collection for online purchases. Brick-and-mortar businesses are pressing Congress to require the tax for all online sales, but many online retailers say that such a mandate would be burdensome. One idea discussed at Wednesday's hearing is to base Internet sales tax on the retailer's home state instead of the buyer's.
