NACTA: Home-based agents trading cruises for land-based trips

Several host agencies reported that home-based agents are selling more land-based trips than cruises, influenced by higher commissions on land tours and the recent negative media attention on the cruise industry. A survey by the National Association of Career Travel Agents indicates that the association's percentage of agents that specialize in cruises has declined to 49% in 2013, compared with 50% in 2012 and 57% in 2009.
