Boston Globe poll: Most Mass. residents back stem cell research

Nearly two-thirds of residents responding to a new Boston Globe poll said they support stem cell research using human embryos, although 46% said they would oppose the research if it involved laboratory-cloned human embryos. Asked to balance research against moral concerns, 60% said it is more important to seek new medical cures than to protect the potential life of human embryos. Massachusetts lawmakers are expected to consider legislation later this month endorsing stem cell research.
