Childhood obesity growing fast down on the farm

Health officials say childhood obesity is spreading the fastest in rural and farm communities, despite long-held notions of farm-life chores and healthier environments helping to build stronger bodies. In West Virginia, where two-thirds of the population is rural, more than one-quarter of fifth-graders are obese, and obesity rates are increasing at an alarming rate in rural areas of Pennsylvania, New Mexico and Michigan.
