Performance fees still rare at mutual funds

With the notable exceptions of Fidelity Investments and Vanguard Group, the mutual fund industry has largely shunned performance fees. The announcement earlier this year that Janus Capital Group would introduce performance-based fees for some of its mutual funds hasn't led to wider adoption; about 10% of the $7 trillion in assets that funds manage is linked to a performance fee.
