Army Corps installs faulty flood pumps in New Orleans

The Army Corps of Engineers last year installed defective flood-control pumps in New Orleans, according to media reports. The Corps and the manufacturer of the pumps are struggling to get them to work properly. They were never tested because the 2006 hurricane season turned out to be mild. Officials say the pumps should be ready for the start of hurricane season on June 1.
