Australian biotechs back effort to approve therapeutic cloning

Australia's biotech industry weighed in on the side of a move in the state of Victoria to approve therapeutic cloning through somatic cell nuclear transfer. AusBiotech noted the process does not involve using sperm, meaning embryos cannot be fertilized to make human clones. Victoria is the first state to consider a measure allowing the work under a federal law approved last year.
