Media giants' YouTube choice: Lawsuit or partnership

Intellectual property lawyers disagree on whether Viacom's $1 billion copyright infringement suit against Google and its video unit YouTube for allegedly circulating 160,000 unauthorized clips of its programming on the site will result in similar actions. Instead, other major media companies could follow the lead of GE-owned NBC Universal, CBS and Universal Music Group, which have struck partnerships with YouTube instead of pursuing litigation, according to attorney Barry Cohen.
