South Florida battles beach erosion, regulations

South Florida continues to spend millions on replacing sand to battle beach erosion. However, federal regulations to protect the environment of coral reefs have slowed some beach reclamation projects. "It's not like building a dam or a road," said Steve Higgins, Broward County's beach erosion administrator. "People are frustrated at putting sand on the beach and seeing it wash away."
