Dutch court deals Samsung a setback over Apple patents

A Dutch court ruled Wednesday that Samsung Electronics has no standing to pursue an injunction against Apple for patent violations, because Apple is entitled to license the technology under clauses requiring fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory terms. Moreover, because of Samsung's existing licensing deal with Qualcomm, Samsung cannot seek to ban the iPhone 4S, which uses a Qualcomm chip. Samsung claimed a partial victory, however, saying the ruling will allow it to pursue damages over the use of Intel processors in other phones.
