Helicobacter pylori infection linked to elevated blood sugar

A study in the Journal of Infectious Diseases found that overweight and obese patients who had Helicobacter pylori infection showed significantly elevated blood glucose levels. Researchers said the bacterium may alter the levels of glucose-regulating hormones and that antibiotics could benefit older type 2 diabetes patients as well as obese people who have H. pylori infection.
