Wal-Mart takes to the cloud for video

Wal-Mart Stores, a leader in home-video sales, is backing the movie industry's UltraViolet initiative, which allows DVD owners to convert their discs to cloud-based digital copies for a small fee. Studios are hoping to ramp up digital sales as opposed to less-profitable rentals and deals with subscription-based services such as Netflix. Five studios are teaming up to offer cloud-based storage for converted DVDs.
