It also provides an opportunity to consider not only how much math instruction students receive, but the focus of that instruction, editorial writer Linda P. Campbell notes in this article, adding that Texas lawmakers are considering reducing the number of years students must take math. She contends it's not the number of years, but the relevancy of math to students' lives that is the key to better math education.
