U.S. FTC commissioner expresses concerns about behavioral marketing

Discriminatory marketing -- providing offers to certain consumers but not others -- will be a focus for the U.S. Federal Trade Commission moving forward, Commissioner Julie Brill said. Brill said the targeting practice based on consumer behavioral patterns can be problematic, particularly if the consumer has no opportunity "to ensure that the information on which these decisions are based is accurate."
