Americans use more time selecting eateries, gadgets than investments

Americans spend more time choosing a restaurant for a special occasion, a television or a tablet than they do picking a retirement investment, according to a TIAA-CREF poll. Asked whether they have spent two or more hours on an activity, 25% of respondents say they have done so to choose a restaurant; more than 20% of respondents have to pick a flat-screen TV; and 16% of respondents have to select a tablet. Only 15% of respondents say they have done so to plan investment in an individual retirement account.
