Physicians tell some patients to cut back on exercise while healing

Many people with serious illnesses continue to exercise, but while physicians generally recommend being physically active, they sometimes have to tell patients to pull back on workouts. "My message to them is 'if you scale back and give your body time to recover, it will benefit you in the long run. If you push through it, you will have a longer recovery time,' " said cardiologist Dr. Dory Jarzabkowski.
