Sanofi threatens suit after Canada clears generic Lovenox

Sanofi-Aventis has threatened to sue Novopharm for patent infringement in the wake of Canadian regulatory approval for Novopharm to market its generic version of Lovenox in the country. A Sanofi spokesman said the company was "taken by surprise" by the Ministry of Health's action, and would seek a preliminary injunction barring Teva Pharmaceutical's subsidiary from marketing its generic.
