Insurance regulator shares views on climate change with Senate

The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation heard testimony from Wisconsin Insurance Commissioner Sean Dilweg on the impact climate change might have on insurers. Presenting the National Association of Insurance Commissioners' position, Dilweg said it's important to recognize the complexity of the risk of weather-related losses on real estate is complex. "Insurers in coastal regions are often leading proponents of better land-use policies and mitigation efforts, such as roof strapping and storm shutters," Dilweg said.
