Medtronic: Defibrillator leads might have contributed to 13 deaths

Medtronic sent a letter to doctors saying its Sprint Fidelis defibrillator wires, which were recalled in October 2007, might have contributed to 13 patient deaths. Four of the 13 deaths were from surgeries to extract the device, prompting the company to renew its advice against the procedure.
