Parent involvement, not private schools, makes the difference

A private-school voucher program in Washington, D.C., will expire at the end of the next school year unless lawmakers reauthorize it. However, a 28-year teaching veteran says the students who would benefit most from vouchers often do not take advantage of the program because their socioeconomic status prevents their parents from giving education their full attention.
