Consol to pay $3.48B to acquire Dominion's Appalachian assets

Consol Energy agreed to purchase the Appalachian exploration-and-production segment of Dominion Resources for $3.48 billion. Under the transaction, Consol will take over 1.46 million acres of oil and gas prospects from Dominion containing over 9,000 producing wells. The deal is also expected to increase Consol's proved reserves by more than 50%.
