Hard Rock Hotel trims losses in 2009, begins search for new president

The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas reports it trimmed its losses by 34% in 2009, with a loss of $197 million, compared with $299 million in 2008. The hotel's net revenue for the year declined to $161.6 million from $164.3 million in 2008, and the average daily occupancy rate was at 88.2% in 2009, compared with 91.7% in 2008. The company also reported it has started a search for a new president to replace former president and Chief Operating Officer Randy Kwasniewski, who was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on March 9.
