Report: Google is working on a trial mobile-payment tool

Google by July reportedly plans to test a mobile-payment system at retail outlets in New York, San Francisco and at least three other cities. The online giant is said to be finalizing a deal with credit card processor VeriFone Systems to use near-field communications technology in mobile devices to complete the retail transactions. Another vendor, ViVOtech, reportedly will be part of the trials.
