In a multicultural workplace, which often may include people who use different dialects or speech patterns, it's important to slow down and listen up so that you connect with speakers' thoughts and feelings, writes Roger Crockett. "When people don't listen carefully to others they can easily make assumptions -- too often the wrong assumptions -- about what other people mean," Crockett writes.
