BNSF partnered with local police officers in Newton, Kan., to warn drivers against the consequences of disobeying train safety rules. The joint effort also addressed drivers entering private property for a quick shortcut. "Trespassing is a misdemeanor, and they can be arrested," said Craig Dunlevy, a member of the Newton Police Department. "It's dangerous out there. They have had some near misses with trains, and with their employees on the yard."
