High white-rice intake is tied to type 2 diabetes

An analysis in the British Medical Journal found that people who had the highest consumption of white rice were 12% to 55% more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than were those who had the lowest consumption. Researchers said more study is needed to confirm the findings, and they emphasized that people should focus on their overall diets, not just a single food.
