Some educators see value of social media amid concerns

Educators in one Wisconsin school district say they use social-networking sites to disseminate information to and connect with students, though they remain cautious about the practice. "I can send an update, and students will see my message within minutes," high-school science teacher Brian Bartel said. "You can see the power of that." District officials are working to develop specific rules on social media use to include in its telecommunication guidelines, which were last updated in 2006.
