Sources that Twitter users follow are among the most trusted ones

A retweet from a trusted source, tweets from authors with demonstrated expertise or tweets from a source a user follows, in that order, are the most credible sources of information on Twitter, according to research from Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon University. Among factors that damage credibility are nonstandard grammar and punctuation and use of the default Twitter image, a cartoon or an avatar.
