AAR reports mixed results for carload, intermodal traffic

U.S. freight rail carload traffic fell 0.9% in the week ending March 9 compared with year-ago figures, but intermodal continued to climb and rose 4%, according to the Association of American Railroads. Crude oil shipments posted the highest growth among the 10 carload categories, up 46.5% in the latest week, AAR said.
