Dannon, Del Monte pledge to improve nutrition

Dannon and Del Monte have pledged to improve the nutrition of their products as part of first lady Michelle Obama's efforts to curb childhood obesity. Dannon will reduce the amount of fat and sugar in its yogurt by 2016 so 70% of its products contain 23 grams or less of sugar per 6-oz. serving. It will also increase nutrients like calcium and vitamin D. Del Monte will focus on improving the nutrient density of its products and developing foods with no sodium and reduced sugar and salt.
