Louisiana district schools to get tech upgrade

A $20 million technology grant from Cisco Systems will outfit eight Jefferson Parish, La., hurricane-damaged schools with high-tech gear that can track student attendance, provide video surveillance and allow students to answer teachers' questions electronically. The pilot project, which will initially reach about 5,200 students, will eventually expand to serve 20,000 students.
