CDC: Merck's rotavirus vaccine is safe

The CDC says side effects related to the oral vaccine currently stay within an acceptable range for safety, but the agency says it will continue to monitor any reports of adverse effects. The U.S. FDA reported last month that 28 infants who had received Merck's RotaTeq developed intussusception, a dangerous bowel obstruction, but the connection to the vaccine was not verified.
