By launching a national promotional campaign to hire principals who have successfully turned around struggling schools elsewhere, D.C. Schools Chancellor Michelle A. Rhee aims to find school leaders who know how to do more than just hope that student scores improve. "Given where our schools are, we need people who know what success looks like and can translate that into immediate gains in student achievement," said Deputy Chancellor Kaya Henderson, who is in charge of principal recruitment.
