Administration prepares small-business plan

Making lending more attractive is the crux of small-business stimulus plans that were scheduled to be announced Monday by President Barack Obama and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. Administration officials said they intend to reduce lending fees, expand loan guarantees and augment other small-business programs. "We know that small businesses are the engine of growth in the economy, and we absolutely want to do things to help them," Christina Romer, head of Obama's Council of Economic Advisers, said Sunday.
