Anemia patient in Spain successfully treated with cord blood cells

Doctors in Spain successfully treated a 7-year-old boy suffering from severe hereditary congenital anemia with a transplant of umbilical cord blood stem cells from his newly born sibling, who was genetically selected for the specific purpose. The case is the first in the country, and 46 more families have opted for the same procedure.
