NP: U.S. needs to move to universal health care

Nurse practitioner Diane Caruso of Winston-Salem, N.C., says a single-payer government-run system is not necessarily the answer for providing universal coverage in the U.S. She cites France, Germany and Japan as examples of cost-effective universal health coverage using public and private hybrids with varied amounts of employer, employee and government responsibility. She says while the U.S. has top-notch health care it does not provide the best medical care for its citizens.
