ACC: Plastic-bag, film recycling at record levels in 2008

Recycling of film and plastic bags reached peak levels in 2008, when Americans recycled about 832.4 million pounds of consumer bags and packaging wraps, representing a 28% increase from 2005, according to a report commissioned by the American Chemistry Council. The study identified greater access to collection programs and new markets for materials as the drivers of growth.
