Clinicians vary in adherence to pediatric asthma guidelines

Providers varied widely in their use of evidence-based guidelines for treating children with asthma and sometimes following the recommendations had no impact on clinical outcomes, according to a medical student's study. Data showed 99% of children studied received a short-acting beta-agonist and 92.5% got a systemic corticosteroid, but only 46% were discharged with a written asthma action plan.
