Industrial firm pioneers production of sustainable biochemicals

Glycos Biotechnologies has successfully completed the process of producing biodegradable and non-biodegradable plastics using lactic acid and advance ethanol, performing a unique approach compared with the method utilized by most companies, which use sugars as feedstock. As the price of sugar continues to rise, Glycos says that its bioconversion technology lowers costs and presents a nonfood energy source that is competitive with petrochemicals.
