After the introduction of Sen. Christopher Dodd's legislation to overhaul financial regulations, industry groups voiced their opposition to specific measures in the bill. The Financial Services Roundtable reiterated its opposition to a stand-alone consumer-protection agency. "The Roundtable believes that consumer protection should not be separated out from the regulators which govern the products," said Steve Bartlett, president and CEO at the Roundtable. Bartlett applauded the senator's proposals for preventing financial institutions from becoming too big to fail and other efforts.
