AAR: Rail carloads slip but intermodal rises in latest week

Carload traffic for U.S. railroads during the week that ended Mar. 10 dropped 4.8% year-on-year, but intermodal activity rose 4.2%, according to the Association of American Railroads. North American chemical shipments declined 4.8% in the latest traffic report. However, 11 of 20 cargo commodity types recorded growth, the AAR noted.
