Wider scope of NP practice does not affect physician pay

The wages of primary care physicians in states with a broader scope of practice for nurse practitioners did not differ from doctors in states with more restrictive regulations, a study in Nursing Research and Practice revealed. Sixteen states plus Washington, D.C., permit nurse practitioners to diagnose and treat patients without a doctor's supervision.
